Illustration work for Kioku Magazine
My sister and I started Kioku Magazine after attending the 2022 Heart Mountain Pilgrimage at the site where our great-aunt Dorothy was incarcerated, alongside fourteen thousand other innocent Japanese Americans, during World War II. The magazine is our way to pay homage to the Japanese-American community; it's a cultural scrapbook of sorts. We created Vol. I on our own; Vol. II was largely comprised of submitted work. As Creative Director, I design and illustrate the issues.
